Nammo is an international group specializing in advanced defence and aerospace technology. Following the award of a government contract to produce grenades and ammunition, a new factory is being established in Elling, North Jutland. The facility will serve as a key part of Nammo’s European organization and mark the company’s entry into the Danish market, with first deliveries scheduled for end 2027. It will become a central part of Nammo’s European organization as well as the company’s entry into the Danish market.
As HR Director, you are one of the first key hires in the Danish organization where you play a crucial role in building the HR function, creating the foundation for a strong culture, and supporting both the establishment and future operations of the factory.
The position
You hold the overall responsibility for establishing and leading HR in Denmark. You are part of the leadership team and work closely together with both the Danish management and Nammo’s HR organization. During the start-up phase, you have access to sparring and support from the Swedish HR team, which already has experience with the group’s tools and processes.
Nammo operates globally with the HR system Cornerstone, and you are responsible for defining and implementing the Danish processes within this system. This means ensuring that all HR activities in Denmark – from recruitment and onboarding to performance management and compliance – are built to meet local requirements while being seamlessly integrated into the group-wide setup.
This role requires you to balance strategy and operations: setting the direction for HR while ensuring that daily processes and core HR tasks run professionally from the very beginning. You also take on a strategic responsibility for developing HR initiatives that support the company’s business objectives, including organizational design, workforce planning, and alignment with Nammo’s global HR policies.
Over time, the role may expand to include direct managerial responsibility as the HR function grows.
Further, your main responsibilities are:
- Establish the HR function in Denmark – policies, processes, systems, and governance
- Ensure HR administration: payroll, pensions, insurances, reporting, and budgeting
- Lead recruitment and onboarding of employees for both project and production roles
- Drive talent and organizational development, including retention, succession planning, and leadership development
- Ensure compliance with Danish labour law, GDPR, and collective agreements, and act as a trusted partner in complex employee relations matters
- Design and maintain competitive compensation and benefits structures, including salary and incentive processes.
You also play a central role in building strong relationships with employee representatives, unions, and relevant authorities. Equally important is the task of developing and embedding a culture where values, collaboration, and engagement are at the core – supported by initiatives within diversity and inclusion, employee engagement surveys, and change management – ensuring that the Danish organization is built on a solid foundation from day one.
Your profile
You hold a relevant educational background within HR, business administration, or a related field (e.g., MSc in Business Administration or Psychology). With at least 7-10 years of experience in a senior HR role, preferably within an international company, you bring strong knowledge of Danish labour law and experience in working with unions and employee representatives. You have solid expertise in compensation and benefits, including payroll, pensions, and insurances, and are accustomed to working with recruitment and development in production or technical environments.
As a person, you combine strategic vision with a practical, hands-on approach. You are motivated by building something new and creating lasting results, and you work in a structured manner with a strong focus on compliance and clear processes. With strong leadership capabilities and high integrity, you inspire trust at all levels and handle confidential information with discretion. You are collaborative, culturally sensitive, and recognized as a trusted partner to both leaders and employees. You value knowledge sharing and continuous learning and contribute proactively – both independently and across the organization.
